Acres Mill Protocol Update on CIV (Canine Influenza Virus) 

As of now we have had no known cases of CIV at our facility.  We are taking the following measures to try and reduce the risk of contamination of our patients and facility:

  1. If within the past 2 weeks (14 days) your pet has been to another boarding, daycare or shelter facility, we will not accept it for grooming, boarding or "drop off" vet services.
  2. If your pet is showing any of the symptoms listed below, we will not accept it for grooming, boarding or "drop off" vet services.​ 
  3. If your pet needs to come in for an appointment for any of the symptoms listed below, we will be more than happy to see your pet.  If any of the symptoms are sneezing or coughing in nature we will most likely make your appointment at the end of the day and there is a possibility that your pet will be seen outside.  Please call before entering the building if your pet has an appointment for any of the symptoms listed below.
  • a soft, moist cough or dry cough  
  • lethargy/lack of energy
  • reduced appetite
  • sneezing 
  • mild to high fevers (103ºF to 106ºF) 
  • discharge from the eyes and/or nose
  • thick nasal discharge (usually caused by a secondary bacterial infection)
  • clinical signs of pneumonia, such as increased respiratory rates and effort
